Sona Comstar Bets on 10x Growth Amid Joint Ventures
Sona Comstar is betting on a 10x decade. Can execution match the ambition? · indianexpress.com

Sona Comstar is a company that makes parts for cars and trucks.

In July 2026, it sold a part of its business that builds electric‑vehicle drivetrains to a new company it owns, and gave a big Japanese company called Denso a 49% share.

The next day, Sona announced a new robotics division that already has orders worth 600 crore rupees.

The company has grown from one product to five different kinds of parts, including motors, sensors, railway equipment, and robotics.

Even though a rare‑earth magnet shortage hurt its sales in 2026, Sona made new motors that don’t need those magnets and still grew a lot.

In the first quarter of 2027, it earned 1,310 crore rupees, with 436 crore coming from electric‑vehicle parts.

Sona’s plan is to keep growing by working with partners like Denso and by using its existing skills in new areas like robotics.
