Delhi Tightens Security Ahead of CJP Protest; Trains Cancelled

A group called CJP planned a protest in Delhi on Saturday.

It wants Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign and objects to a voter-list review process called SIR.

Police increased security and sources said some people with criminal records were detained before the protest.

The headline reported that 20,000 police personnel were deployed and more than 250 trains were cancelled.

CJP said some people travelling to the protest were stopped or detained in different states.

It also said some people were sent home or asked to sign promises of good behaviour.

The group said these actions and travel restrictions were unfair to people who wanted to protest.

CJP leaders called for detainees to be released and for protesters to be allowed to reach Delhi.
