62,000 Working Teachers Fail UPTET, Jobs Safe Until 2028
Uttar Pradesh announced the results of its teacher eligibility test.
More than 13.3 lakh people passed.
However, 62,028 teachers who already have jobs did not pass.
The Supreme Court has said that these teachers must pass the test to stay in service.
They are not expected to lose their jobs immediately.
They can try the test again until August 31, 2028.
The state is also preparing a separate test for working teachers.
This separate test may have less competition and could make qualifying easier.
The UPTET 2026 result recorded more than 13.3 lakh successful candidates.
At the primary level, 5,71,435 of 7,13,648 candidates passed, a pass rate of 80.07%.
At the upper-primary level, 7,59,513 of 10,57,021 candidates passed, a pass rate of 71.85%.
Among 2,68,799 working teachers, 62,028 failed to qualify for the examination.
Working teachers can retake the TET until August 31, 2028, after which those who remain unsuccessful could face termination.
