US Senate confirms Trump nominees along party lines
The U.S. Senate recently confirmed 97 people chosen by President Trump for important government jobs.
All Republicans voted yes, and all Democrats voted no.
Two notable picks are Leo Brent Bozell III, who will be the ambassador to South Africa, and Tammy Bruce, who will be a deputy ambassador to the United Nations.
The Senate also changed its rules to make it faster to confirm many nominees at once.
This change doesn't affect the confirmation of judges or heads of big government departments.
The Senate has been very divided lately, with Republicans supporting Trump's choices and Democrats opposing them.
Both sides blame the other for not wanting to compromise.
The U.S. Senate confirmed 97 Trump nominees for ambassadorial and sub-cabinet positions in a 52-47 vote along party lines.
Key nominees include Leo Brent Bozell III as ambassador to South Africa and Tammy Bruce as deputy U.S. representative to the United Nations.
The Senate invoked the 'nuclear option' to expedite nominations, allowing large groups of nominees to be voted on together.
Senate divisions have widened since Trump's second term, with Republicans supporting his nominees and Democrats opposing them.
The rule change does not affect the confirmation of federal judges and heads of Cabinet agencies.
