Tamil Nadu Plans Sports Overhaul, Halts Mini-Stadium Works
Tamil Nadu wants to improve sports facilities across the state.
Work on 62 mini-stadiums has been paused so their designs can be changed.
The government says some existing mud tracks are unsafe for athletes.
These tracks may be replaced with surfaces that work in all weather.
Tamil Nadu will also create sports hostels in all 38 districts.
One school in every district may receive better sports facilities.
Madurai could get a world-class Olympic Sports Academy, while Paramakudi has been proposed for an Olympic City.
The state also plans to modernize 500 sports centres and build better facilities for sports such as kabaddi.
Tamil Nadu will develop modern sports hostels in all 38 districts and upgrade stadiums.
