India Women Announce Squads for Australia Tour
India Women vs Australia Women: No Pratika Rawal, Harmanpreet Kaur To Lead As India Name Squads For Australia Tour · timesnownews.com

The Indian women's cricket team has announced their squads for the upcoming tour of Australia.

Harmanpreet Kaur will continue to lead the team, which includes players from the 2025 ODI World Cup-winning squad.

Pratika Rawal, who suffered a knee injury, has been left out of the ODI team and will be replaced by Shafali Verma.

Shafali will also be part of both the ODI and T20I squads for the tour.

The announcement was made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on January 17, 2024.

The tour includes three T20Is, three ODIs, and a one-off Test match.

Debutants G Kamalini, Vaishnavi Sharma, and Kashvee Gautam have been included in the ODI squad, while Shreyanka Patil and Bharti Fulmali return to the T20I squad.

Harleen Deol has been dropped from the T20I squad, and Arundhati Reddy and Radha Yadav have been dropped from the ODI squad.

Additionally, Dinesh Karthik has expressed concerns about India's T20 squad composition for the T20 World Cup 2026, particularly in death bowling.

The BCCI announced the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2026 on December 20, 2025, with Suryakumar Yadav as the captain and Axar Patel as the vice-captain.

India will play a five-match T20I series against New Zealand before the T20 World Cup 2026.

Quotes

Dinesh Karthik

Former Indian cricketer and commentator

“Death bowling is a concern. I think it’s a challenge because of the way they stack up their eleven. When they’ve played in the subcontinent, they’ve gone with Bumrah, Hardik as the second pacer, and Shivam Dube as the third, while backing their spinners heavily. At times, when the game goes deep, especially when they’re defending a total, the back end can become a challenge.”
