Indian Railways Achieves 80% Punctuality, Expands Projects
Indian Railways has improved its punctuality to 80%, which is better than many European countries.
The minister also talked about new railway projects, like extending the Kashmir Line and improving safety with over-bridges.
However, some projects in Tamil Nadu are delayed because the state government is slow in giving the needed land.
The minister said the central government is ready to help, but it needs support from the state government to finish these projects.
The budget for railway projects in Uttar Pradesh has also increased a lot since 2014.
Indian Railways' overall punctuality has reached 80%, with 70 divisions achieving over 90% punctuality.
Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the improved punctuality and safety measures, including over-bridges.
The Baramulla-Uri new line (46 km) and Banihal-Baramulla doubling (118 km) projects have completed surveys and DPRs but await sanction.
Land acquisition delays in Tamil Nadu are hampering important railway projects, with only 24% of required land acquired.
The budget for railway projects in Uttar Pradesh has significantly increased since 2014, with a historic boost under the current prime minister.
