Ukraine to Potentially Acquire Up to 100 French Rafale Jets Over Next Decade
Ukraine and France have agreed to work together for the next 10 years.
In this time, Ukraine might get up to 100 French Rafale fighter jets.
They will also get strong air defense systems, drones, and special bombs.
Some of this new equipment could start arriving in about three years, but it takes a long time to train pilots for the jets.
France can make these planes without taking any away from their own military, and they can also supply other countries.
This is part of Ukraine's plan to build a strong military fleet for its defense.
Ukraine and France signed a letter of intent for up to 100 Rafale F4 fighter jets over the next decade.
The deal also includes eight SAMP/T air defense systems, drones, drone interceptors, and guided bombs.
First deliveries of air defense systems and other equipment expected over the next three years, with Rafale pilot training taking at least three years.
France confirmed it can produce the jets for Ukraine without impacting its own military or other export commitments.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the deal as a 'historic deal' for Ukraine's long-term security.
