ISRO, IN-SPACe Clash Over Transfer of Mature Rocket Technologies

ISRO, IN-SPACe Clash Over Transfer of Mature Rocket Technologies

Some former space officials and ISRO employee groups are questioning plans to let private companies make India’s established rockets.

They want to know which government decision allows this process.

The dispute involves IN-SPACe, ISRO and NSIL, which have different responsibilities in the space sector.

IN-SPACe says it can help private companies participate in space activities.

ISRO says private companies can produce mature technologies while ISRO works on harder future missions.

ISRO also says it will not be privatised or weakened.

Critics believe IN-SPACe may have gone beyond its authorised role by inviting EOIs for rocket technologies and a spaceport.

ISRO says important infrastructure and strategic capabilities will remain under government control.

The central unanswered question is whether the EOI invitations were based on an approved government policy.
