NGT Demands Action on Tobacco Firms for Plastic Waste Rule Violations
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) is asking the Indian government about why tobacco and pan masala companies are not following rules about plastic waste.
These companies are supposed to follow rules about how they package their products, especially since the plastic used in their packaging causes pollution.
The rules say that plastic shouldn't be used to package these products.
In 2021, the government told the companies to stop using plastic, but they didn't.
Now, the NGT is looking into why these companies are not following the rules and what should be done about it.
