Bank of Baroda CEO Discusses Core Strength, RAM Growth, and Liquidity Management
Bank of Baroda's CEO, Debadatta Chand, explained that the bank is doing well by consistently earning a lot of profit each quarter, showing its strong foundation.
He wants to lend more money to regular people, farmers, and small businesses because there's a good opportunity in India for this, aiming to increase this type of lending from 61.7% to 65% in a few years.
While loans are growing faster than people's savings, the bank has extra reserves and can borrow money smartly to make sure it has enough funds.
The bank is also growing its business internationally.
Overall, the bank is focused on being steady, strong, and increasing its lending to support everyday economic activities.
Bank of Baroda CEO Debadatta Chand highlights the bank's strong core performance, consistently delivering net profits over ₹4,000 crore quarterly.
The bank aims to increase the share of Retail, Agriculture, and MSME (RAM) advances to 65% of gross domestic credit within three to four years, from the current 61.7%.
Chand acknowledged that credit growth is outpacing deposit growth but expressed confidence in managing liquidity and meeting full-year growth targets.
The bank is leveraging excess SLR securities and recent CRR cuts to manage liquidity and aims to borrow strategically from markets at competitive costs.
BoB plans to expand its international operations, aiming to grow the international book to 20% of overall business within three to five years.
