Stanford Study Finds Optimal Indoor Nature Balance for Stress Reduction

Stanford Study Finds Optimal Indoor Nature Balance for Stress Reduction

Imagine you're in a room, and it has a few plants and a window looking out at trees.

This usually makes people feel calm and happy.

But, what if the room was filled with SO many plants and wooden things that it took up most of the space?

This new study found that having too much nature inside, like almost 60% of the room, can actually make people feel more worried and stressed, not less.

Scientists at Stanford created a special computer tool to measure how much nature people see inside a room.

They then showed people different virtual rooms, some with a little nature and some with a lot.

People who were given stressful puzzles to solve felt better with a little bit of nature.

However, when there was too much nature, it made their stress even worse.

So, a little bit of plants and wood is good, but too much can be bad for our mood.
