Mass Fish Deaths in Teesta River
A lot of fish died in the Teesta River near a place called Mirichbari.
People saw the dead fish floating in the water.
Officials think someone put poison in the river, which killed the fish.
This has happened before in the same river and nearby rivers.
The officials are collecting samples to find out what exactly happened and are warning people not to eat or sell the dead fish.
They are also planning to teach people about how to prevent this from happening again.
Large numbers of fish were found dead in the Teesta River near Mirichbari, Jalpaiguri district.
Preliminary indications suggest that toxic oil was mixed into the river water, causing the fish deaths.
This is the second such incident in the Teesta River since February.
Officials from the fisheries department collected samples of water and dead fish for testing.
Awareness campaigns and a dedicated helpline are being planned to prevent future incidents and report illegal activities.
