Texmaco, Touax, TrinityRail Form Rail Freight Leasing JV
India wants more trains to carry goods, so a big Indian company called Texmaco teamed up with a French leasing company Touax and a U.S. rail company TrinityRail.
They will invest a lot of money to make new train cars and let people lease them instead of buying.
This helps the government reach a goal of having 45% of goods moved by train.
The partners will also help fix and maintain the cars.
They plan to make the whole process cheaper and faster.
The partnership shows how different countries can work together to improve India’s freight system.
Texmaco Rail & Engineering partners with France’s Touax Group and US’s TrinityRail Global to create a railcar leasing joint venture.
The partnership will invest about Rs 1,800 crore over 3–5 years to finance 100 new freight rakes and build a world‑class leasing ecosystem.
TrinityRail will take a 32% equity stake in the existing Texmaco‑Touax venture, while Texmaco and Touax each hold 34%.
The JV aims to support India’s goal of raising rail freight share from 27% to 45% under the National Rail Plan.
The partners plan to offer integrated solutions—design, manufacturing, financing, leasing, maintenance, and lifecycle engineering—to meet growing freight demand.
