US-Iran Strikes Escalate Tensions Around Strait of Hormuz

The United States attacked two rocket launchers on Iran’s Larak Island.

American officials said the launchers might have been used to place mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

Mines could make it dangerous for ships carrying goods and oil.

Iran called the attack a serious mistake and said it would punish those responsible.

Iranian media said Iran fired missiles at American bases in Jordan.

Jordan said it stopped eight missiles, and a US source said there was no major damage.

President Trump also posted a video claiming Iran’s Kharg Island was being destroyed.

Reuters found no other evidence of an attack there and said the video was probably made with artificial intelligence.

The fighting has made ships more cautious and pushed oil prices higher.
