Sensex, Nifty Surge as Crude Prices Drop, FII Inflows Rise
The two main stock market indexes in India, the Sensex and the Nifty, jumped a lot on Monday.
They went up because the price of oil, which India buys a lot of, fell by almost 5%.
This made investors feel less worried about the cost of oil.
Also, the US President said talks with Iran would start again, which made people feel safer.
Money from foreign investors also went into the market, helping it grow.
Big companies like ITC and Infosys saw their shares rise, while companies like Sun Pharma and Maruti Suzuki fell a bit.
The market was also helped by good weather in July.
All these things together made the market go up.
Sensex jumped 470–600 points to around 78,600, Nifty rose 150–194 points to about 24,580.
The rise was driven by a nearly 5% fall in Brent crude to below $84 per barrel.
Foreign institutional investors bought Rs 277.48 crore in equities, turning net buyers.
Investor optimism was boosted by US President Donald Trump’s announcement of resumed talks with Iran.
Major winners were ITC, Bajaj Finserv, Infosys; laggards were Sun Pharma and Maruti Suzuki.
