Collegium Extends Six Calcutta HC Judges’ Tenure Six Months

The Supreme Court collegium reviews judges before deciding whether they should become permanent.

It has given six Calcutta High Court judges six more months as additional judges.

The judges were first appointed to the High Court in 2022.

Their work and written judgments were reviewed several times.

The collegium said it was not yet satisfied with their performance.

The six-month period gives them a chance to improve.

If their work improves, they may be considered for permanent positions.

If it does not, they may not be confirmed and could return to the district judiciary.
