Shiv Sena Leader Booked Over Alleged ₹73 Lakh PWD Diversion
Police in Jawhar have opened a case about government money connected to road and drainage work.
The amount involved is about ₹73 lakh.
The work was originally given to several engineers through a tender process.
Investigators allege that official papers were changed to show that Jijau Construction had done the work.
They say the names of the original contractors were covered and replaced.
The money was then allegedly sent to a bank account in 2019.
Nilesh Bhagwan Sambare, business partners and former PWD officials have been named in the case.
A senior police officer will now investigate what happened.
Jawhar Police registered a case against Shiv Sena deputy leader Nilesh Bhagwan Sambare and others over alleged diversion of ₹73,13,884 in PWD funds.
The alleged irregularities involve seven road, pothole-filling and gutter-excavation projects awarded during 2014–15 in Wada, Mokhada and Jawhar.
Investigators allege that original contractors’ names were erased from official records and replaced with M/s Jijau Construction.
The funds were allegedly transferred online to a Bank of Maharashtra account on March 31, 2019.
The case includes allegations of breach of trust, cheating, forgery, falsification of accounts and criminal conspiracy; a DySP-rank officer will investigate.
