DGBR Reviews Sikkim Road Restoration Post-GLOF

The Director General of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), Lt Gen Harpal Singh, visited Sikkim to check on the roads that were damaged by a big flood caused by a melting glacier in 2023.

The BRO and the Indian Army worked together to fix the roads and make them stronger so that they can handle future floods and bad weather.

They also talked about how to work better together to help the people of Sikkim in case of emergencies.

The BRO is a special group that builds and keeps roads open in very tough places, like high mountains and cold areas.

They work in places where it's very cold, even below -30 degrees Celsius, to make sure roads stay open for soldiers and people.

The BRO was started in 1960 and now has many projects all over India and even in Bhutan.

They have special skills to build roads quickly when there are emergencies like floods or earthquakes.

The BRO is made up of both civilian and military people who work together to keep roads open, no matter how hard the conditions are.
