Centre Approves Rs 764 Crore Ferozepur-Patti Rail Link Project in Punjab
The government is building a new train track in Punjab, called the Ferozepur-Patti rail link.
It will be about 26 kilometers long and cost over 764 crore rupees.
This new line is like a shortcut that will make traveling between Ferozepur and Amritsar much faster, cutting the distance in half.
It's also very important because it's close to the border with Pakistan, which will help the army move soldiers and supplies quickly.
Besides helping with defense, the project is expected to help businesses, create about 2.5 lakh jobs, and connect different parts of Punjab better.
It will also make it easier for people, students, and patients to travel to and from nearby villages.
The government is paying for part of the land needed, but they are waiting for the Punjab government to finish getting the land ready.
The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned the Ferozepur-Patti Rail Link Project in Punjab, costing an estimated Rs 764.19 crore.
The 25.72 km project is strategically important due to its proximity to the Pakistan border and aims to connect the Malwa and Majha regions.
It significantly reduces travel distances, such as Ferozepur to Amritsar (from 196 km to 100 km) and revives a historic route by shortening the Ferozepur to Khemkaran distance.
The project is expected to boost socio-economic growth, create approximately 2.5 lakh employment opportunities, and facilitate the rapid movement of defense personnel and supplies.
The Union government has allocated Rs 166 crore for land acquisition but awaits action from the Punjab government to complete the process.
