Supreme Court to Hear CBI Plea Against Sengar's Bail
A girl who was hurt in a bad way in 2017 and her mom had a protest outside a big court in Delhi.
They were upset because a man named Kuldeep Sengar, who was found guilty of doing something very wrong, had his punishment temporarily stopped.
The girl and her mom said they think the police officer who was supposed to investigate the bad man was actually helping him.
They said the officer used fake papers and lied about things the girl said.
The girl and her mom went to the CBI to ask them to do something about the officer.
The protesters held signs and shouted to show they want justice for the girl.
The mom said she doesn't blame the whole court but is sad about the decision.
She said they will now go to a higher court to ask for help.
The bad man is still in jail for another bad thing he did.
The higher court, called the Supreme Court, will listen to the CBI's complaint against the decision to let the bad man out on bail.
The Supreme Court will decide if the bad man should stay in jail or not.
The Supreme Court will hear the CBI's plea against the Delhi High Court's order granting bail to Kuldeep Singh Sengar on 29 December.
The Delhi High Court suspended Sengar's life sentence and granted him bail on 23 December pending appeal.
Sengar, a former BJP leader, was convicted in 2019 for the 2017 Unnao rape case and is currently serving a separate 10-year jail term in another CBI case.
The Unnao rape survivor and her mother met with CBI officials to file a complaint alleging misconduct in the investigation and collusion between the investigating officer and Sengar.
The survivor and her mother expressed their intention to approach the Supreme Court for justice and trust the apex court to handle their case.
