Pune RTO Orders Surrender of Employed Autorickshaw Permits
The Pune RTO has told people who drive autorickshaws and also work in other jobs to give up their autorickshaw permits.
The law says you can't have an autorickshaw permit if you work somewhere else.
The RTO has noticed many people are breaking this rule.
They are now telling these people to follow the law or they might get in trouble.
Pune has a lot of autorickshaws, and the RTO wants to make sure only the right people have permits.
They started giving out new permits in 2017 to help with the high demand for autorickshaws and to create jobs.
The Pune RTO has ordered autorickshaw permit holders who are employed elsewhere to surrender their permits immediately.
The Motor Vehicles Act prohibits holding an autorickshaw permit while being employed in other sectors.
Permit holders must surrender their licenses or face strict action under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Pune has over 83,000 autorickshaw permits, and Pimpri-Chinchwad has more than 40,000.
The RTO will intensify enforcement to ensure permits are held only by eligible individuals.
