Canada to Review F-35 Fighter Jet Order by Summer's End
The Canadian government is checking its plan to buy F-35 fighter jets.
The Prime Minister, Mark Carney, said they will finish this review by the end of summer.
Canada planned to buy 88 jets for about $19 billion.
This review started because of trade issues with the U.S. and to consider other ways to spend money on defense.
Canada has already promised some money for the first 16 planes.
The government is making sure the deal is still the best option.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the review of the F-35 fighter jet order.
The review concerns a C$19-billion contract for 88 F-35 fighter jets from Lockheed Martin.
The review was ordered in March due to a trade dispute with the United States.
The review aims to diversify defense spending.
