DMK Challenges Proposed Pattinapakkam Secretariat Construction in Madras High Court

DMK Challenges Proposed Pattinapakkam Secretariat Construction in Madras High Court

The DMK wants the Madras High Court to stop a proposed government complex in Pattinapakkam.

The complex would include offices for the Secretariat and Assembly and could cost Rs.

1,200 crore.

Petitioners say the site is too close to the sea and may need special coastal permission.

They also worry that fishermen and poorer residents could lose out.

They say the construction might make traffic and crowding worse.

Another lawyer filed a separate case after receiving no government response.

Opposition and Left parties have protested the proposal.

The minister says no final decision has been made and a report will be studied first.
