India Allocates Final 10 GWh ACC Battery Capacity
India is working to make more batteries at home.
The government has a plan to help companies make these batteries, and they have already given some companies the okay to make 40 GWh of batteries.
Now, they are going to give the okay to make the last 10 GWh of batteries.
These batteries are important for storing energy from the sun and wind, which helps keep the lights on even when the sun isn't shining or the wind isn't blowing.
The government wants to make sure India can make enough of these batteries to meet its energy goals.
The Indian government is allocating the final 10 GWh capacity under the ACC PLI scheme for grid-scale stationary storage.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has proposed this to the Empowered Group of Secretaries for approval.
The scheme aims to create 50 GWh of domestic ACC manufacturing capacity, with 40 GWh already allocated to four beneficiaries.
The focus is on grid-scale stationary storage systems to support renewable energy integration and grid stability.
The government hopes to boost local manufacturing and meet ambitious renewable energy targets with this allocation.
