YSRCP MP Seeks Discussion on AP Law and Order
A member of the YSR Congress Party in India's parliament has asked for an urgent discussion about the worsening law and order situation in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
The MP, Maddila Gurumoorthy, mentioned several concerning issues, including police misconduct, crimes against women, and violence against people from scheduled castes.
He also talked about political violence and how the courts have criticized the police.
The MP wants the central government to investigate these problems and take steps to improve the situation.
YSRCP MP Maddila Gurumoorthy submitted an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha to discuss the deteriorating law and order situation in Andhra Pradesh.
The motion highlights rising police excesses, crimes against women, atrocities against Scheduled Castes, political violence, and violations of civil liberties.
Notable incidents include custodial deaths of Sai Krishna and Yedukondalu, and deaths linked to police harassment like Mala Gangamma, Kranti Kumar, and Sk. Dariya Hussain.
Between June 2024 and March 2026, Andhra Pradesh recorded 209 crimes against women, 69 incidents involving Scheduled Castes, and 133 incidents of political violence.
The MP urges the Centre to seek a comprehensive report from the Andhra Pradesh government and ensure impartial investigations into all reported incidents.
