Kerala Allots Funds for Monsoon Emergency Relief
The Water Resources Minister in Kerala is giving out money to help deal with the upcoming heavy rains from the monsoon season.
A total of 8.25 crore rupees is being given.
Some of the money will go to fix up small irrigation systems, with each area getting a bit of the money.
Other money is for bigger irrigation projects.
Money is also being set aside to protect the coast.
Engineers in charge of the projects can use the money quickly if there's an emergency during the monsoon, but they need to keep records and prove how they spent the money.
The funds are for immediate relief and preventative measures.
Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine sanctioned Rs 8.25 crore for monsoon-related emergency interventions.
Rs 3.5 crore allocated to minor irrigation divisions, with Rs 25 lakh each for executive engineers in all 14 districts.
An additional Rs 2.5 crore was sanctioned to 10 major irrigation divisions.
