Man Who Assaulted Ilhan Omar Sentenced to 14 Months

Anthony James Kazmierczak attacked Representative Ilhan Omar at a public meeting.

He sprayed her with vinegar from a syringe.

He also told her that she must resign.

A security guard quickly stopped him.

Omar continued speaking after the incident.

Kazmierczak pleaded guilty in May.

A federal judge sentenced him to 14 months in prison.

His lawyer said he apologized to Omar in court.

He also faces separate assault and threats-of-violence charges in Minnesota state court.
