Itafos in Talks with Indian Companies for Rock Phosphate Project
Imagine a company called Itafos wants to help India get a special ingredient for fertilizer, called rock phosphate.
This ingredient is becoming harder to get because some countries are limiting how much they sell.
Itafos is talking to Indian companies about getting this ingredient from a place called Guinea-Bissau.
The tricky part is that Guinea-Bissau needs to build a port to ship the phosphate.
If they can build the port, India might get the supply it needs to make fertilizer.
This would help farmers grow crops and is especially important because the demand for fertilizer is projected at 11 mt for next year.
Itafos is in discussions with Indian companies regarding a rock phosphate project in Guinea-Bissau.
Talks have reached an advanced stage, with a non-disclosure agreement already signed.
A major obstacle is the development of port infrastructure for exporting the phosphate.
The project aims to provide India with a new source of rock phosphate amid market constraints.
Low cadmium content of the phosphate makes it appealing for fertilizer production.
