Haryana sets up monitoring committee to prevent sewer accidents
In the Indian state of Haryana, people sometimes have to clean and fix underground sewers.
This work can be very dangerous.
In the past, there have been accidents where sewer workers got hurt or lost their lives.
The state government wanted to stop that from happening again.
So it created a special team called a monitoring committee.
The committee's job is to make sure everyone follows safety rules.
Its members will visit worksites on a regular schedule.
They will also make surprise visits when people least expect them.
If they find that someone is not following the rules, they will fix it right away.
Leaders said safety is the most important thing, and anyone who is careless will face strict punishment.
Haryana's Public Health Engineering Department has formed a monitoring committee to prevent sewer-related accidents.
The committee includes the Chief Engineer at Headquarters, the Superintending Engineer of the concerned circle, and the Executive Engineer of each division.
It will conduct periodic field visits and surprise inspections to verify safety equipment use and compliance with operational guidelines.
Inspection reports will be submitted to the Chief Engineer, Haryana, and then placed before Minister Ranbir Gangwa.
Minister Gangwa said worker safety is the highest priority and strict action will be taken against negligent officers or agencies.
