MobiKwik Eyes UPI Growth Amid Market Competition
MobiKwik, a fintech company, is planning to grow by focusing on UPI (Unified Payments Interface) transactions.
Their co-founder, Upasana Taku, shared that they have seen a significant increase in UPI transactions, especially in tier-II and tier-III cities.
They aim to become EBITDA positive in the next quarter by improving revenue and reducing costs.
MobiKwik also filed a lawsuit against a merchant banker to ensure vendors engaged in their IPO process were paid.
They believe that UPI can help them engage more customers and sell other financial services.
MobiKwik is focusing on UPI as its next growth engine, with transactions increasing from 40 million in Q2FY25 to 138 million in Q2FY26.
The company aims to become EBITDA positive in Q3FY26 by improving revenue growth, lowering direct costs, and improving contribution margins.
MobiKwik's GMV in the payments business grew by over 50% year-on-year to ₹43,000 crore in Q2, with a gross margin increase from 19% to 29%.
The company is targeting 3-4 million new users and 1 lakh new merchants each quarter.
MobiKwik filed a lawsuit against merchant banker Dam Capital to release ₹42 crore in vendor payments withheld due to a dispute.
