Bank of Baroda Q1 Profit Drops Due to NMC Litigation
Bank of Baroda, a big bank in India, made less money in the first three months of the year because they had to pay a lot of money to settle a legal case.
They usually make money from loans and other banking services, but this time they had to pay a big fine, so their profit was much lower than expected.
They also had to set aside less money for bad loans, but their overall loan quality got a bit worse.
Bank of Baroda's Q1 profit was ₹1,278 crore, below estimates.
A one-time exceptional loss of ₹5,680 crore due to NMC litigation settlement.
Net interest income rose 10% year-on-year to ₹12,525 crore.
Provisions declined sharply.
Asset quality weakened slightly on a sequential basis.
