Assam Floods: Death Toll Reaches 100, Affecting 10 Districts

Assam is a part of India that gets very heavy rain every year during the monsoon season.

This year, the rain made the rivers overflow, and water covered many villages.

Sadly, the floods have taken the lives of 100 people.

Many thousands of people have been affected, though different reports give different numbers of exactly how many.

People have moved to safe camps, where they can stay and receive food and other supplies.

The rivers Dhansiri and Kushiyara are running very high, so people have been told to stay away from them.

Farmland with growing crops has also been damaged by the flood water.

The weather forecast says more heavy rain is coming in the next few days, which could make the water rise even higher.

The state's chief minister has asked officials to visit homes in the worst-hit areas and check how much damage the floods caused.

The aim is to make sure no affected family is left out and that everyone who needs help gets it.
