Punjab reinstates 12 of Dr Amit Bansal’s de-addiction centres
The Punjab government has allowed 12 out of 22 de-addiction centres run by Dr Amit Bansal to reopen.
These centres were closed earlier due to investigations into illegal drug sales.
Six of these centres had expired licences, but they were still allowed to reopen so that Dr Bansal could apply for new licences.
The government is also checking the remaining 10 centres, some of which have had thefts or other problems.
Dr Bansal is facing legal trouble for alleged wrongdoing in his centres.
Punjab’s health department reinstated 12 of Dr Amit Bansal’s de-addiction centres, six of which had expired licences.
The reinstatement follows orders from the health department and the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The remaining 10 centres are under review, with six reporting theft cases and three facing FIRs for irregularities.
Dr Bansal’s centres were initially sealed in July 2025 following allegations of fake patient admissions and illegal drug sales.
The ED and Vigilance Bureau are investigating Dr Bansal for financial irregularities and suspected wrongdoing.
