Bengal Couple Survives Nepal Flash Flood, Returns Home Safely

Anukul and Reba Poddar were visiting Nepal for a religious journey.

They were traveling toward Mansarovar and Kailash with a larger tourist group.

On August 26, a sudden flood happened near the Nepal-China border.

The flood was reportedly about 300 metres from where the couple was.

Their driver heard about the danger and quickly took them to a safer, higher place.

The couple did not see the main flood, although they saw something like white smoke moving down a river.

They later went back to Kathmandu and then returned home to Basirhat.

They said they were relieved to be safe but sad for people who died.
