Questions Raised Over Parliamentary Process Behind India’s NEP-2020

Questions Raised Over Parliamentary Process Behind India’s NEP-2020

A group met in Brahmapur to discuss India’s National Education Policy 2020.

Former professor Birendra Nayak criticized how the policy was prepared.

He said it was not debated in Parliament or discussed in state assemblies.

He compared it with earlier policies from 1968 and 1986, which he said received parliamentary discussion.

He also said students, teachers and other groups were not involved enough.

Nayak argued that the policy gives too much importance to Sanatan Dharma.

He said education should consider students’ social and geographical backgrounds.

The event also remembered former Lok Sabha Speaker Rabi Ray and featured speeches about his life and public work.
