Sebi's Action on Synoptics Sparks SME Market Concerns
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has taken action against a company called Synoptics Technologies Ltd.
They say the company did some bad things with the money it got from selling shares to the public for the first time.
They also say the company tried to make its share price go up artificially on the day it started trading.
Sebi has also stopped the bank that helped with the share sale from doing similar work in the future.
This has made people worried about small companies and the safety of regular investors in the stock market.
Sebi issued an interim order against Synoptics Technologies Ltd in May 2025.
Allegations include diversion of IPO proceeds to fictitious entities.
Synoptics is accused of artificially inflating its share price on listing day.
Sebi barred the involved merchant banker from taking on new IPO assignments.
The action aims to address concerns over SME market manipulation and retail investor safety.
