Paper Agreement With Turkiye, Pakistan Won't Secure Saudis: Iranian MP
A very important person from Iran, named Ebrahim Rezaei, said something about an agreement.
Some countries made a promise to help each other if one of them is attacked.
The three countries are Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan.
Their leaders signed this promise in the holy city of Mecca.
Iran does not think this promise will make Saudi Arabia safe.
Rezaei called the agreement just a piece of paper.
He said trusting other countries did not bring Saudi Arabia security in the past.
He thinks Saudi Arabia should change its own policies instead of asking others for safety.
The three countries said their promise is only about defence and not meant to hurt anyone.
The agreement was signed at a time when tensions in the Middle East are high.
Iranian MP Ebrahim Rezaei called the Saudi Arabia-Pakistan-Turkiye security pact a 'paper agreement' that will not bring Riyadh lasting security.
Rezaei, a member of Iran's Parliament and its National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, posted his criticism on X and urged Saudi Arabia to reform its policies rather than 'beg' for security.
Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Pakistan signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement on Friday, with a collective defence clause treating an attack on one member as an attack on all.
The pact was signed in Mecca by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The three countries said the agreement is purely defensive, not aimed at any country, not a military alliance or sectarian bloc, and not linked to nuclear ambitions, as tensions rise from the US-Iran conflict and Houthi attacks.
