BMC Approves ₹11.18 Crore Election Works Awarded Without Tenders

BMC Approves ₹11.18 Crore Election Works Awarded Without Tenders

Mumbai’s civic body approved spending ₹11.18 crore on election-related work after the work had already been assigned without regular tenders.

The biggest part, ₹10.81 crore, was for data entry operators working on the SIR of electoral rolls.

Up to 40 operators worked in each of 36 Assembly constituencies for four months.

The BMC said there was not enough time to use the normal tender process.

Other spending included food for workers checking electronic voting machines.

It also included urgent repairs at an EVM warehouse.

The BMC Standing Committee approved the decisions afterward.

Critics could question the lack of competition, while the BMC described the work as urgent.
