Ranchi Durga Puja Pandal Alters Design After Objections
The Durga Puja pandal in Ranchi, which was designed to look like Vatican City, replaced an image of Jesus Christ with Lord Krishna.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had raised concerns about the original image, alleging it hurt Hindu sentiments.
The organizers, RR Sporting Club, said the change was made to celebrate different religions and show the theme of religious harmony, inspired by similar decorations from Kolkata.
Despite the change, European-style statues remain outside the pandal.
