Massachusetts Lindsay Clancy Triple-Murder Trial Ends Without Verdict

Massachusetts Lindsay Clancy Triple-Murder Trial Ends Without Verdict

Lindsay Clancy was accused of killing her three young children.

The children died at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, in January 2023.

Clancy’s lawyers said she was suffering from a serious illness called postpartum psychosis.

They said the illness caused her to lose touch with reality and prevented her from understanding or controlling her actions.

Prosecutors agreed that Clancy had serious mental-health problems but said she knew the killings were wrong.

They also argued that she planned the killings before trying to take her own life.

The jury discussed the case for seven days but could not agree on a verdict.

Because the jury was deadlocked, the judge ended the trial without deciding whether Clancy was guilty or not guilty.

Prosecutors may now seek another trial with a new jury.
