DAVV Student Poll Protest Turns Violent, 10 Students Booked

Students at Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya held a protest asking for student-union elections.

They wanted the university to announce election dates right away.

The protest started as a bicycle rally and moved toward the Vice Chancellor’s office.

Arguments and brief scuffles happened when employees tried to stop the protesters from entering.

The university’s main gate and some nearby property were allegedly damaged.

The Vice Chancellor met student representatives and accepted their written request.

Student leaders said he promised that elections would happen in September, but no official announcement has been made.

Police have filed a case against 10 students.

Police are also checking cameras to investigate a black car whose number plates were allegedly changed on campus.
