Monsoon Croaks Bioblitz 2025: Citizen Scientists Document Frogs
The Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI) has launched the third Monsoon Croaks Bioblitz, a citizen science project.
This project enlists the public to help document frog species across Kerala during the monsoon season.
Participants use the iNaturalist app to submit photos and recordings.
This initiative helps map frog distributions, track breeding patterns, and assess habitat preferences.
Over the past two years, nearly 400 citizen scientists recorded over 100 frog species.
The data collected aids ecological research, conservation efforts, and climate change studies.
This year, KFRI aims to expand outreach to more rural communities.
