Mumbai Cops Probe Bureaucrats in Flat Registration Dispute
Two senior government officials in Mumbai are fighting over money related to registering flats.
One official, Umesh Chandiwade, says his colleague, Rajesh Govil, took Rs 2.61 crore from people to register their flats, but never did.
This happened in Blue Bell Society in Powai.
It all started with an agreement from 1986 involving a builder and the government.
Residents were told the flats would be registered quickly if they paid extra, which they did.
However, the flats were never registered, and the money wasn't returned when asked.
Now, both officials have filed complaints against each other with the police.
Powai police are investigating cross-FIRs filed by two senior bureaucrats.
Umesh Chandiwade accused Rajesh Govil of cheating them of Rs 2.61 crore regarding flat registrations.
The dispute involves flats in Blue Bell Society in Powai.
An agreement in 1986 between Hiranandani, the state government, and MMRDA complicated the flat registrations.
23 members gave Rs 2.61 crore to Govil for flat registration, which never happened and refunds were not issued.
