UPSC Releases Detailed Schedule for Engineering Services Preliminary Exam 2026
The UPSC is getting ready to hold the first part of its Engineering Services Exam in 2026, called the Preliminary exam.
This exam will happen on February 8, 2026.
It's for young engineers who want to work for the Indian government in important technical jobs.
The exam has two parts on the same day.
The first part, in the morning, is about General Studies and Engineering Aptitude.
The second part, in the afternoon, focuses on a specific engineering branch like Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics.
After this Preliminary exam, there will be a Main exam later in the year.
The whole process aims to find the best engineers to help build and manage the country's infrastructure.
The UPSC Engineering Services Preliminary Examination 2026 is scheduled for February 8, 2026.
The notification for ESE 2026 was previously released on September 26, 2025.
The Preliminary exam includes two papers: Paper-I (General Studies and Engineering Aptitude) and Paper-II (Discipline-Specific Paper).
Paper-I is a 2-hour, 200-mark objective exam held from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
Paper-II is a 3-hour, 300-mark objective exam held from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
