Rice Millers Protest Raids, Seek Relief From Government Pressure

Rice millers in Bhupalapally held a large protest against government actions.

They said officials are raiding mills while trying to recover pending CMR dues.

The millers believe these actions unfairly treat the whole industry as responsible for defaults.

They said less than 2% of the paddy given to millers over the past decade was in default.

They also said mills lose some rice naturally during processing and storage.

These losses can happen because of broken rice, rain, moisture and grain deterioration.

The millers want leftover paddy auctioned and some extra paddy converted into boiled rice.

They are asking the government to find long-term solutions and stop sudden raids.
