BMC Seizes Illegal LPG Cylinders, Coal Ahead of New Year 2026
The BMC and Mumbai Fire Brigade conducted a special inspection drive in Mumbai ahead of New Year 2026.
They checked over 2,700 places like hotels, restaurants, and malls.
In Kamala Mills and Shakti Mills, they found and seized illegal LPG cylinders, charcoal, and other unsafe items.
They also took action against 136 places that weren't following fire safety rules and gave notices to 55 others.
This is because a few years ago, a fire in Kamala Mills caused many people to lose their lives.
The authorities are being extra careful to prevent such tragedies from happening again.

Over 2,703 establishments, including hotels, restaurants, and malls, were inspected across Mumbai.
In Kamala Mills and Shakti Mills, authorities seized illegal LPG cylinders, charcoal, edible oil, and other hazardous materials.
Action was taken against 136 establishments for violating fire safety norms, and notices were issued to 55 others.
The heightened vigilance is due to a past fire tragedy in 2017 at Mojo’s Bistro in Kamala Mills that claimed 14 lives.
