RSS General Secretary Responds to Ban Call, Cites Nation-Building Efforts
A leader from a group called the RSS, Dattatreya Hosabale, was asked about why his group should not be banned.
He explained that banning an organization that works to build the country and is accepted by the people isn't right unless there's a good reason.
He mentioned that his group has been around for a long time, and even though it was banned once after a famous leader was killed many years ago, the ban was later removed.
Another political leader, Mallikarjun Kharge, believes the RSS should be banned because he thinks they are responsible for problems in the country.
His son also thinks the RSS shouldn't be allowed to do activities in schools or temples because he believes they teach things that are against the country's rules.
RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale stated that a ban on the organization requires valid reasons, as the RSS is engaged in nation-building and has public acceptance.
Hosabale's comments were a response to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's call for a ban on the RSS, whom Kharge holds responsible for law and order issues in India.
Mallikarjun Kharge referenced Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's past actions, suggesting Prime Minister Modi should ban the RSS.
Priyank Kharge, son of Mallikarjun Kharge and a state minister, urged for RSS activities to be barred in government schools, colleges, and temples, accusing the organization of 'brainwashing young minds'.
The RSS was temporarily banned in 1948 after Mahatma Gandhi's assassination but was later cleared of direct involvement and the ban was lifted.
