Allahabad High Court Judge Flags Delays, Questions Court Administration

Allahabad High Court Judge Flags Delays, Questions Court Administration

A judge of the Allahabad High Court spoke about court cases taking far too long to finish.

Some cases mentioned in the order had been waiting for more than 20 years, and some for over 40 years.

The judge said people deserve a speedy trial and that long delays hurt trust in courts.

The order also discussed how important court decisions are made and reviewed.

It said judges should have more opportunities to discuss administrative matters together.

It also questioned whether there are clear rules for promotions and checks on favoritism.

The judge noted that the court held only 16 Full Court meetings in 10 years.

The bench asked the Chief Justice to consider more meetings and open discussion, while saying the comments were meant to encourage constructive reform rather than criticize a particular person.
