Neglected Rachakonda Fort Misses Its Chance as Tourist Destination

Neglected Rachakonda Fort Misses Its Chance as Tourist Destination

Rachakonda Fort is an old fort near Hyderabad.

It sits on rocky hills and has a long trekking path.

People could enjoy visiting it for its history, scenery, and mysterious local stories.

The fort was built around 1360 CE and abandoned about 70 years later.

Today, visitors find very few basic facilities there.

Because it is inside a reserve forest, tour operators need permission for trekking and camping.

A heritage group member says the tourism and forest departments should work together.

Earlier governments promised to improve the site, but the promises were not fulfilled.
